(OOC: Please see nscommonwealth.proboards.com/thread/87/atlas-security-council-ooc for OOC discussion relating to the Security Council and this resolution) The Delegate from Lemmingtopias takes the floor and, after sipping a glass of water and clearing his throat, begins to speak to the assembled Diplomats"Friends and Neighbours, as you will have heard, Lemmingtopias has recently unilaterally reduced it's stockpile of nuclear weapons. The new government in Lemingtopias is committed not just to reduction, but to sensible and responsible storage and use of these deadly weapons systems to ensure they pose the minimal threat to mankind. With this in mind, we hereby propose the following Resolution which I shall read now:

Mrs. Margey, Ambassador from A Dreamers World, takes to the floor.
"Ambassadors, for too long the misuse of nuclear weaponry has run rampant. We support measures to bring this problem under control and thus we support this Resolution and look forward to voting in favour."

A Sethtekian delegate dressed in the normal black that the Delegate uniforms wear. He'd stand up to begin to speak.
"Although a commendable and noble venture your proposing and assuming it is done with the best of intentions; these commands tend to be overzealous and corrupt in their quest for denuclearization of the world which will end up causing a rift. Your desire to denuclearize the world will not only fail, but the smaller rogue nations will not adhere to the laws. Sethtekia shall not ratify nor adhere to the Atlas Command. As we adhere to only one law of War. Mutually Assured Destruction. Knowing a nuclear war is one of last resort.... if any of the members of Atlas command enter Sethtekian borders. Shall be met with indefinite imprisonment.
We hope that your venture is successful."

The ambassador once again takes the floor to respond to the critic.
"My friends, please do not mistake this proposal for being anti-WMD, Lemmingtopias continues to adhere to a policy of nuclear deterent. We only seek to bring nuclear weapons information to the light and to deter non-state actors from possessing nuclear weapons."

We will abstain from supporting this proposal in that many of our private corporations have their own legally-procured nuclear weapons. While it is in the interest of the current administration that we disarm the nuclear stockpiles of our major corporations, possibly by purchasing them from the corporations in possession of them, this has to happen in due order and in accordance with Clauses 19-23 of the Charter Code of Madrocea. The Commerce Party still holds a majority of seats in Assembly Tower, and they stand against anything that takes away the rights of private corporations to arm themselves as they see fit.

A Krogish Delegate in fine attire steps to the stage and taps on the mic clumsily, accidentally pushing it over. After a few laughs from the crowd and after the delegate straightens out his coat, he begins to speak.
"My friends, nuclear weapons cause only mass destruction. In the Nuclear Crisis of 2018 Krogon had with a region called Salutations, the threat that at any moment they could pull the plug and massacre countless citizens of Krogon was devastating. I immediately passed forth the notion to Supreme Bakken to denuclearize. Though it was a risky move, it felt as if there was a giant weight lifted off my shoulders. Before long Salutations denuclearized as well and world tension dropped a staggering amount. I urge you, fellow delegates and leaders of the world, accept this resolution and fully denuclearize, it is for the greater good of the world!"
The Krogish Delegate gets a round of applause from the Krogish side of the audience, something that makes the moderator of the heated debate angry. A few yells of "GO KROGON! KROGON 4 LIFE!" are heard as the delegate steps off the stage.

The Sethtekian Delegate stood up after the Krogish Delegate spoke. "The Nuclear Crisis of 2018 is not of any concern. I will sit here and argue all day with you if I must. But I will make it very clear. We will not allow your commission to enter our waters. Or airspace. If you were foolish enough to allow non-governmental agencies the access to weapons as one delegate has allowed. It is foolish. Civilians and corporate powers are not smart enough to utilize such weaponry properly. Instead they use it as a "talking point." "

Before the Sethtekian delegate even sits down, the Krogish one leaps up, not even bothering to step on stage.
"Tomfoolery! We are in an alliance, and such words will not be taken so lightly. The Nuclear Crisis of 2018 is absolutely still a threat! Imagine what chaos the world would be thrown into if either one of us had launched even a single missle! No private corporation should have nearly enough power to wipe out the world in one blow. I beg of you all to denuclearize this instant.

"If you wish to Denuclearize Sethtekia. We will ensure your failure. Our people are strong and obidient to our beloved Kommandant. Sethtekia is not concerned with the Crisis." *The Sethtekian Diplomat was stood at parade rest.*

The Kogish delegate fumes out of the room, and the moderator calls for order, pronouncing a ten minute recess.
