I'll use this thread to give details of our recruitment campaigns.
Recuitment Campaign of May 2019
I sent a mass TG to every WA Nation in the game.
Nations Telegrammed: 25,149
Telegrams Blocked by Filter: 11,018
Telegrams Delivered: 13,131
Telegrams Read: 3,467 (26.4%)
The campaign had mixed sucess.
Despite it being obvious it was not a recruitment telegram for a region, an aweful lot of people simply ouldn't get their head around that. I was sent dozens of quite hateful messages accusing me of lying. I think a lot of people realy couldn't grasp that I had no intention for them to move region, even though that was clearly stated in the first sentence. I will have to think about how it can be more obvious in the future.
The obvious issue is the 'Move [nation] to [region] button on telegrams. Now I know there is a selection to recruit for an organiation and I chose not to tick that because I needed to link people to our region page so they could see the information 'at a glance'. If I had of selected the 'organiation' box, and linked the region, I probably would of been accused of trying to recruit for the region and got reported. NationStates Mods are really bad whe it comes to reports of recruitment violations and seem to just accept any report they get without actually checking the telegram properly, so I wanted to tread carefully. This was my mistake. Next time I will need to find a way to provide 'at a glance' information without linking to the region page, perhaps through a dispatch.
Despite it being clear that it wasn't supposed to be a recruitment for a region, about 20 nations have actually moved to the ns commonwealth region. So the next step is going to be trying to get them involved in the commonwealth.
We have had interest from a few new people and a couple of new Member Nations.
Overall, I think the campaign was a bit of a failure, but it has presented us with some opportunities (the nations in the ns comonwealth region) and there are lessons to be learned from it.
The NS Commonwealth Nation has 11,369 recruitment telegrams remaining.
