The Surge Peace and Security ManifestoOur Manifesto for the June 2019 Security Group Chair ElectionCo-Written by Lemmingtopias and A Dreamers World
Surge is a Party that values peace and solidarity among regions. Unfortunately, there are those that wish to trample our fragile peace into the dirt and the Commonwealth must have a Security Policy that protects our community and Member Regions from those that would do us harm, while ensuring that we do not fall into the trap of surrendering our values and way of life to all-encompassing security aparatus. Therefore, we make the following Manifesto proposals:- The Commonwealth Security Group must have an effective strategy to increase the security of Member Regions against the twin evils of imperialism and terrorism.
- The Security Group must formulate a thoughtful definition of 'terrorism' which distinguishes between the terrorist acts aimed at destroying communities and the lesser destructive acts of petty raiders.
- The Security Group should compile a Terrorism Watchlist, which identifies terrorist groups and individuals that threaten the Commonwealth, her Member Regions and Nations as well as the regions existing within the sphere of influence of the Commonwealth.
- The Commonwealth must reject imperialism and remain non-aligned in the contests between the world's large imperial organisations and regions that cause so much destruction for the rest of the world.
- The Commonwealth should abstain from entering into military operations overseas where our community, our Member Regions or our directs interests are not threatened.
- The Commonwealth forum and other platforms must be managed in such a way as to keep them secure but at the same time ensuring that our values of transparency and prosperity are not encroached upon.
- The Commonwealth must be protected from clandestine threats that seek to destroy her community. While proper judicial process is an important part of our democratic values, lengthy, divisive and convuluted judicial processes only play straight into the hands of those that would do us harm. The Commonwealth must be able to distinguish between rule breakers and community destroyers and act appropriately.
These are our Manifesto commitments for the Security Group Chair Election and, no matter what the outcome of that election, these are the proposals Surge will be arguing for over the coming months in Security Group discussions and on the Co-Ordinating Committee. Vote for a fair security policy, vote Surge!
