Welcome to the Pokémon Gym. My Name is Professor Oak and I am a Pokémon Professor. Today you embark upon your journey across the world to catch and battle Pokémon, ultimately leading to the Pokémon League. But before pitting your Pokémon against the best trainers in the Pokémon League, you must first earn yourself eight Gym Badges. This is one such Gym, where you can earn the Water Badge. It's Trainer, Misty, is a powerful water-type Pokémon Trainer and in order to defeat her and earn your gym badge, you will need to collect and train Pokémon to be tough enough to do battle. If you don't yet have a Pokémon, you are in luck, young aspiring Trainer. As Pokémon Professor, I can give you your Pokémon Licence and a Starter Pokémon. Just visit my lab to get started!
Once you have a Starter Pokémon, you can travel the world catching others. You will encounter a new Pokémon every day in the Encounters Thread. Be sure to keep checking this thread too for the latest news and to learn about upcoming events.
Once you have trained up your Pokémon and think you are ready to face Gym Leader Misty, you should read on.
Gym Rules
You will battle with two Pokémon. The first Trainer to have both their Pokémon defeated will lose the challenge and their opponent declared the winner. If you defeat the Gym Leader, you will earn yourself your very own Water Badge.
To challenge Gym Leader Misty, post this form as a reply in this thread.

How Battles Work
Each Pokémon has four stats assigned at random when caught: Speed, Attack, Defence and Health. The Health Stat defines your Pokémon HP, the speed stat determines which Pokémon attacks first, the Attack stat determines how much damage you do to your opponent while the defence stat determines how much of that damage is shielded against. Your stats are also affected by the following modifiers:
RP Bonus: This can boost your attack and defence by up to 33%
Luck: This can boost your attack and defence by up to 33%, but can also reduce it by up to 33% too.
Post Bonus: Each post you have on the forum will boost your attack and defence by 0.5%, up to a maximum of 33%
