Land
The Great Plain around the City of Atlantis is divided into 60,000 plots. Each of these can be leased.
It costs 10 Drachmas to buy a lease on a plot of land, plus 1 drachma per day (paid monthly).
To lease land, post in this thread saying how many plots you wish to lease. All your plots, including any you lease in future, will be located together and will form one holding.
Output of Land
Each plot of land has a starting resource value of 6 and starting number of dwellers of 5. These values will increase or decrease by 1 or stay the same each month.
Dwellers will tend the land, taking what they need for themselves and giving you the surplus. If resources is greater than dwellers, you will receive a surplus. Each dweller can produce a maximum surplus of 0.1.
Labour
Improvements require Labour. Your Tenants will provide that Labour. If you don't have enough Tenants, your Dwellers will provide the excess labour and work on your improvements rather than the land they live on. Therefore, some of your land will stop being tended. This can either increase or reduce your surplus depending on the circumstances.
Landless Dwellers
When you make improvements to land, the dwellers that live there are displaced, making them landless. Landless Dwellers do not produce anything but they still need to eat. Therefore, they take what they need from your lands, reducing your surplus. Because they aren't as organised as the landed dwellers, they use 50% extra resources, considerably reducing your surplus.
You can reduce Landless Dwellers by building Houses. The people that move into Houses are called Tenants and they use far less resources than Landless Dwellers. They will also work on your improvements, leaving your Dwellers to work the fields.
Profit
Your Holding will have a Land Value, based on the value of each plot of land (randomly assigned between 1 and 3).
The surpluses from your land (after subtracting what is used by Dwellers, Labourers and Landless Dwellers) will be multiplied by the land value in order to give a profit.
If your surplus is negative, you will have to buy resources to feed your people. This costs 2 drachmas per unit, making it very uneconomical.
You will only get profit for days that you post in any of the Tales of Atlas threads (including OOC threads)
Profit will be paid to you monthly.
Improvements
You can purchase the following improvements to increase profits from your land. All improvements detiorate over time, rendering it back to undeveloped land. For each improvement, there is a 15% chance it will turn back into undeveloped land monthly. If you do not have enough labourers to work your improveents, you will have to hire them. Hired Employees cost 2.5 Drachmas per day each.
Farm - 60 Drachmas
Convert undeveloped land to farm land, quadrupling it's output. Farm land will eventually be abandoned by the farmers due to deteriorating land quality, rendering it back to undeveloped land.
Mill - 100 Drachmas
The Mill is a place to convert certain crops into a more profitable foodstuff, as well as a place to store food. The Mill will increase the output of up to 10 plots of undeveloped land or farm land by 15%.
Houses - 100 Drachmas
Landless Dwellers will move into Houses that you build. Each plot of Houses can house 20 Landless Dwellers, converting them into Tenants. Tenants use 15% less resources than Dwellers and much less resources than Landless Dwellers.
Mansion House - 375 Drachmas
The Mansion House is not just your county retreat, but the centre of organisation of your Estate. Building the Mansion House increases efficiancy, reducing the resources consumed by Dwellers by 10%
Dock - 150 Drachmas
The Dock allows you to make better use of the canal system, increasing your profits. The Dock will increase the land value of up to 20 plots by 15%.
