So far no other candidates have come forward to stand in the HoC election. If no other candidates come forward, should Surge put forward an alternative candidate to ensure there is a democratic choice?

Yes. It should be Felvor as Party President. If Felvor wins, Lemming would be surge candidate for Chairperson.

So long as we are united in our support for Lemming's victory, yes.

So long as we are united in our support for Lemming's victory, yes. I agree we should remain United in our support for lemming, but I dont want to see the alternative candidate just be a technicality. I'd like to see felvor represent a true alternative. I'm not saying he should rip up the manifesto, but should point out any differences in opinion he has and how he would do things differently to lemming. One manifesto, two choices in how it is implemented.

Welcome madrocea Everyone: The election is over and Lemmingtopias has won. As per party rules - which were brought in to ensure that the Head of the Commonwealth never has control of our party and to ensure that our party can always provide effective opposition to the Head of the Commonwealth, even when he won on a Surge Manifesto - I have informed Lemmingtopias that he is now suspended from the right to vote or take part in any party decisions. He will still be summoned to the Party Offices on a regular basis to be held account for his actions as the Head of the Commonwealth and, as Party and Commonwealth President, I will be scrutinising him both here, in the Senate and in the Co-Oridinating Committee. I believe that something is missing from the way we do democracy in the real world. Well actually, a lot of things are missing. But there is a particular thing I think we could use this as an opportunity to try out. We go into elections, we have all these disagreements and divisive issues and someone wins. Then nothing, no more public debate, no looking into how we can come to solutions to these divisions and disagreements now that we have had the popularity contest and hosen who will lead. So I want to propose that Surge demands the government for a post-election debate, in two weeks time so that Lemmingtopias and myself can talk about these issues again, without having to mediate our ideas and beliefs into a instrument to get votes. Would anyone object to this? Finally, I believe as a party we should quickly deliver action on our manifesto by taking a mnifesto pledge and pressing the HoC to enact it with haste. I believe we should do this with our policy to create a Commonwealth Media Organisation. This Organisation will broadcast the different cultures and stories of different regions in the Commonwealth to promote a commonwealth community that shares diverse cultures, that showcases our regions and which makes our presence known at the world level. It is the perfect campaign pledge to build the development of the Commonwelth on. With your approval, I will push for this to be discussed at the Co-Ordinating Committee and put into action with haste.

I messaged Lemmingtopias inviting him to a post-election debate. He had reservations, chiefly that he was concerned such debates could be used as a way to divide the Commonwealth further after an election. I believe that if done well, it can lead to the opposite. We have, however, come to a compromise. Instead of a normal hustings, the debate will only consist of myself and Lemmingtopias plus one questioner that we both agree on. The questioner will will go over all the major points of the pre-election debate as well as looking at major Manifesto commitments that werent covered in the debate.
The debate will take place at some point next week and we will try to see if there is a time we can both be online in order to get it done quickly.

With Felvor resigning his position of Security Chair in the coming weeks, we need to be ready for an election. I invite Party Members to look over our manifesto and highlight any areas relating to security that should be altered or added.

There was talk of us not standing and allowing krogon the role unchallenged. While that was admirable and I was happy to stand aside for an independent candidate, the fact that Krogon has now formed an opposition political party changes things. We cannot stand aside while another Party goes into an office unchallenged and we must fight this election.

Very well. I ask the Party Secretary to draft a manifesto for member scrutiny. In the meantime, we must choose a candidate. I feel it makes little sense for it to be anyone but Naruto. As Naruto is our Party Chairman, he is our candidate for the next Commonwealth Chairperson. He cannot actually stand as a candidate in this future election without holding a Group Chair. That is just my opinion, and I encourage anyone who wishes to be Surge Candidate to put their names forward. madrocea naruto adreamersworld

I confirm I will be standing but I encourage others to stand against me.
If I lose the party vote, and the Surge Candidate wins the Chair position, I will resign the position of Party Chairman and support the winner as my successor.
